The SEND Den

The 3R Foundation recently awarded £1000 to The SEND Den for a pop up sensory tent and a tickle tunnel. The SEND Den offers pop-up sessions designed to support children with disabilities, providing fun and inclusive activities tailored to their needs.

Currently, equipment is kindly loaned by the charity Unique Toys, but the team hopes to gradually build a collection of their own. The sessions aim to create a sensory-rich experience using high-tech equipment not typically available elsewhere.
Finding unique SEND-friendly groups in Carnforth and the surrounding areas is a challenge. The SEND Den addresses this by running pop-up sessions locally, including a successful event at Millhead Village Hall and another at Cragbank Village Hall, where regular sessions are expected to continue.
While exploring long-term plans for The SEND Den, the focus remains on supporting the local SEND community right now. Many families of children with disabilities face increasing isolation—especially during the winter months—due to limited accessible activities and facilities.
Sessions are also set to expand into Morecambe and Lancaster, offering even more families the chance to connect, play, and feel supported.
