GRANT AWARDED - Morecambe PANTRY
The 3R Foundation recently awarded £1,128 to Morecambe Pantry for a commercial grade double fridge which was urgently needed to replace their previous one which had stopped working.
Morecambe Parish Church opened a community outreach hub at The Sanctuary Cafe in April 2023 to help provide a warm space, low-cost meals and refreshments, and a space for other organisations to reach out to the community. They also use the space to run Morecambe Pantry a food redistribution centre that works with organisations such as FareShare and is partnered with local businesses. Members are offered a large range of affordable food for a small membership fee. They see 90 families a week and have a membership of 345 families.
The community outreach hub significantly impacts the lives of those who access it. The project provides a place for people to connect, access support, and learn new skills. It also provides practical support to those struggling with costs, such as free hot meals, heating bills and laundry via links with the Citizens Advice Bureau and Christians Against Poverty.
