The Lancaster District Food Justice Partnership (LDFJP) works to relieve food poverty and increase community capacity.
The Lancaster District Food Justice Partnership (LDFJP) works to relieve food poverty and increase community capacity.
They are a partnership of local organisations dealing with food and wider support, including Food Clubs, Foodbanks, Citizens Advice, the NHS, and District Council. Together, they are working to make it easier for people to get the food support they need.
Having a diverse range of organisations as partners within the LDFJP promotes by better communication between organisations: this allows the identification of patterns of food insecurity across organisations, areas of need, shared initiatives, and an overall co-ordinated approach to supporting vulnerable members of the community. This coordinated approach enables services across the district to be more streamlined, efficient and effective.
The grant will support the 'Strengthening the Lancaster Food Network through Data' project by funding the purchase of 7 tablets with protective cases for food clubs to collect and share member data. With an existing data system and three tablets already in use, this funding will complete the hardware needs for full implementation.
Data sharing will provide insights into food club members, service gaps, and food procurement, improving reporting, welfare checks, and identifying food deserts. It will also strengthen the network’s effectiveness, reduce food waste, and support evidence-based funding applications for long-term sustainability.
