GRANT AWARDED - Cinderbarrow Miniature Railway

GRANT AWARDED - Cinderbarrow Miniature Railway
Picture
The 3R Foundation recently awarded £600 to Cinderbarrow Miniature Railway for fencing materials. Lancaster and Morecambe Model Engineering Society are a group of enthusiastic engineers who operate Cinderbarrow Miniature Railway around the picnic area at Cinderbarrow Park.

The Miniature railway opens to give rides to the public through most of the year.
They applied for a grant as the railway lines are separated from visitors to the park by wooden posts supporting three to four single strands of fencing wire. These wooden posts had been in place for many years, and many were in a deteriorated and potentially unsafe condition.
To enhance safety, they had been advised to replace the existing wire fencing with a more secure mesh fence. This upgrade will help prevent children and animals from accidentally wandering onto the tracks while trains are in operation, reducing the risk of accidents and ensuring a safer environment for both visitors and railway operations. The volunteers did all the work themselves!
