GRANT AWARDED - Carnforth RAF Cadets

GRANT AWARDED - Carnforth RAF Cadets
3R foundation grant award
The 3R Foundation recently awarded £675 to 2246 Carnforth Sqn, Royal Air Force Air Cadets to purchase 4x smart tablets, cases and keyboards.
The local Carnforth Squadron of the RAF Air Cadets (Air Training Corps) provides activities and opportunities for young adults aged between 12-20.
Activities include flying, gliding, radio/ cyber, first aid, marksmanship training, sports, outward bound (canoeing, climbing etc), Duke of Edinburgh's award, camps and aviation based academic training too.

Recent cadet success includes a cadet completing his Private pilots licence, international exchange camps to Germany and USA, and 1 of their cadets becoming the Lancashire Lord Lieutenants cadet representative.

The RAF fund most of the core activities (flying, gliding, First Aid Training) at national and regional level, but each squadron is an individual separate charity that is responsible for raising their own funds for equipment and opportunities outside the core syllabus.

A grant was applied for as their current IT equipment was out of date, and due to this they no longer received updates from the manufacturer and no longer met the security requirements to be able to log onto the national server to allow cadets to access resources for academic subjects, and for them to take the exams needed to progress through their academic courses. The 3R foundation was delighted to help and provided the funds to allowed them to purchase 4 tablets/ laptops.
