Grant Awarded - 16th Morecambe Scouts

Grant Awarded - 16th Morecambe Scouts
3R Foundation Grant Award
The 3R Foundation has awarded a grant of £645 to 16th Morecambe Scouts which they have used to purchase an 8 person stand up paddle board.

Scout Leader Sian James explained that they are a large Scout troop based in Torrisholme, Morecambe with over 150 young people aged 4-18 coming through the doors each week. Scouting exists to actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society, teaching skills for life and providing adventure! Stand Up Paddle Boarding promotes balance, increases arm, leg and core strength, and improves endurance, as well as building confidence in children. Spending time in the outdoors, especially in the calming environment of the lakes and rivers will also benefit their mental health.

The paddle board is a large one that can take 8 Scouts, so there will be a lot of team work involved to steer the craft, and plenty of fun to be had too!
