The 3R Foundation recently awarded £1000 to Kendal Rugby Club junior section for match and training balls and a selection of training equipment. Kendal Rugby Club welcomes the local community to get involved in healthy activities by providing rugby and other sports facilities.
The club offers inclusive spaces for sports, recreation, and leisure, ensuring that everyone—especially those who may need extra support due to age, health, finances, or social circumstances—has the opportunity to improve their quality of life.
Located at Mint Bridge, the Club is a hub for players of all ages, from 5 to 85. It hosts two weekly touch rugby sessions, a social rugby team, two senior men's teams, a senior women's team, a weekly walking rugby session, a Colts team, and training sessions for 11 different year groups, from age 5 to 15.
Their junior section at the Club comes together on a Sunday morning, and it is growing by the year, with 180 mini and youth members currently registered. This mini and youth section is the entry point for many to a lifelong love of team sports. In 2025 they established a new player pathway to support youth players through into the senior social and competitive teams. Three of the current 1st XV men's squad started in the U8s (11 years ago). It's homegrown talent that sustains grassroots sports teams like KRUFC. They needed correct sized junior balls for training sessions and matches and a selction of tackle bags, rings and ruck pads which we were happy to fund for them.
