Crag Bank Under 5's Playgroup/Pre-school

The 3R Foundation recently awarded £1000 to Crag Bank Under 5's Playgroup/Pre-school in Carnforth for activity and role play sets.

A well-established, charity-run playgroup established for over 30 years. It provides care and early education for children aged two years through to school age, and also hosts a dedicated mums and toddlers session. While the nursery remains a busy and vibrant environment, like many charitable organisations, it relies on fundraising efforts and donations to enhance the children's learning experiences and to purchase toys and equipment.

The nursery recognises the vital role of imaginative play in early childhood development. Role play supports creativity, problem-solving, and social skills, while also introducing children to diverse cultures and lifestyles.

Road safety had been identified as a key area. A dedicated setup including a zebra crossing, traffic lights, signs, and road work accessories will help teach children about road awareness and following directions, both indoors and outdoors.

A hairdresser role play area now benefits from the addition of a barber set and modern salon tools like hairdryers and straighteners, helping children engage in real-life scenarios while building communication skills.

A new wooden kitchen with accessories, along with tills and card machines, supports life-skill development across multiple areas.

Lastly, colourful voiles have added texture and creativity, perfect for building dens and enhancing sensory play.
